Inks

Coloring My World

One of the most wonderful things about fountains is the ability to add whatever ink you want under the sun! I have taken full advantage of this. The items below are some of the fountain pens that I have in my collection.

FYI !

You can purchase full bottles with the buttons below the text below. Or you can purchase samples of these inks on Macari.

My Basic Black..

We all need a basic black. I call this my professional ink. A basic archival black ink that works with whatever we are writing with. I personally use this ink as an all-purpose ink, for writing, drawing, and signing documents. My go-to black ink is Take-Sumi in the Iroshizuku Line by Pilot.

In my opinion, this is a soft black. Personally, I do think that a deep stark printer black ink is quite harsh to look at. Choosing a black with more of a haze has been a very relaxing ink to use.

Another wonderful aspect of this is how it shows up on different paper colors. I enjoy using this ink on cream-colored papers because the soft grey black blends beautifully with the paper.

I must point out that when it comes to drawing with this ink, it does remind me of Asian ink drawings. The ink has the dimension of almost a watercolor ink. Another reason why I love this ink.

Gloomy Violet Skys

In my opinion, there are very few people who use purples the way I use them, and that is for everything. I use this Rohrer & Klingner bottled fountain pen ink in Scabiosa

Moody, gloomy, soft lavender is the vibe of this ink. Journaling is what I use this ink for. Journaling for me is an exercise that allows me to unwind and actually remove negative thoughts and get them on paper, and then remove them from my life.
So, this is very on brand for these feelings.

Boogie Brown

If you want to treat yourself to a luxury stationery item. I would highly recommend this Mont Blanc Ink in Toffee Brown.

I adore this ink so very much.

So how did I decide to purchase such a luxurious item? When I first got into fountain pens, one of the first pens I saw online was a Mont Blanc pens. I was strolling through the mall and saw the logo. Curious about the store, I went in, and I fell in love. The leather goods, the beautiful fountain pens, and the high-class experience got me hooked. The only problem is that those pens are way out of my price range. I was like, wait a minute. Now, if you have $1000 to drop on a pen, good for you. Me not so much.

Even though everything was out of my budget, I still wanted a "souvenir". So, I scanned the store, and my eyes fell on the beautiful bottles of ink. I asked the employee if they had swatches to look at, and once I saw the beautiful cozy, warm brown that reminds me of a beautiful toffee chocolate. I was like, we are buying this, and the rest is history.

My Green Dream

If you are looking for a beautiful gold green fountain pen ink that reminds you of a Scandinavian Forest, this is the ink to buy. Rohrer & Klingner bottled fountain pen ink - Old Golden Green. I absolutely adore this ink for journal writing and sketching landscapes. The forestry color does build depth as you layer the ink when sketching, hence why I use it for this purpose.

Does this fountain pen work with highlights?

Yes, this ink works perfectly well with highlights, but only after the ink dries; before that, the ink will smudge if you try to highlight.
